Five decades in, and I have just discovered the magical deliciousness of Lucky Charms.

Heh, I didn't know how good Froot Loops are until I was about 35! I used to mix them with granola or puffed Kashi just so I wouldn't feel like I was totally selling out to the sugar coating.

I mix all my cereals, much to the dismay of some onlookers.

And Joel, that's not sugar coating. It's MAGIC.

Funny - that's one of Spouse's 6 standbys - and his absolute favorite among them. I used to think it must be gruesome (look at all those fluorescent colors! How could it not be?!) - till one day I broke down and tried it. And yes - it's good!

When I'm in line at the Target with multiple boxes of super sugary cereal (Fruit Loops, Fruity Pebbles, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, and, of course, Lucky Charms), I feel like I need to tell the folks in line behind me, "No! They're not for me!"

Fluorescent colors = candy flavors = gruesome. Exactly. And I know I will never bring myself to try froot loops for that reason. Lucky Charms just must be the exception that proves the rule :)

you have to be kidding me. I guess this is kind of a beautiful thing: when a generation surpasses the last in knowledge and experience. I just can't get over how ahead of you I am!

An unanticipated problem has arisen. We keep running out of Lucky Charms now.

Yes... whereas before, we NEVER ran COMPLETELY out because SOMEONE refuses to eat the last 1/2-serving in the box, so we end up with FIVE almost-empty boxes cluttering up the larder.

So I am doing us a service, vermin-wise.

Ho ho. The last half-serving is disgusting and full of broken pieces of cereal and cereal dust.

This also applies to chips.

Ahem.

They're fortified with five essential vitamins! Or something like that. And apparently magic dust.

Hm. And here I thought it was virtuous and healthy to admit the truth!

It's my new philosophy. Make hay while the sun shines. Fiddle while Rome burns. We'll all be eating nuts and twigs soon enough.

Well, as long as we're admitting the truth: I've never even tried Lucky Charms, at least as far as I know! (But I have tried your Yule Log, and I think that might have been sprinkled with magic dust, too....)
